Opening Reception Fall Exhibition. “Fantastic Fuerzas/Forces” with Artist Curator Patty Ortiz investigates how contemporary artists have integrated comics into their artistic practice. For many Latino artists it is a way to discuss pop culture’s mainstream choices that excludes the Latino experience. For others it is a way to discuss America’s mass media manipulation into marginal worlds. A common thread is that they all dive into humor, commerciality, and sociological fronts, resulting in sometimes-confrontational questions regarding our future.
