The 14th Annual Gemini Ink Summer Literary Festival Gets Underway

Connections: Coming Together, July 8-24

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, June 27, 2011 ––– July 8 - 24 marks this year’s Gemini Ink Summer Literary Festival. Whether you are a seasoned or aspiring writer, the Festival offers diverse instruction and inspiration to both adult and child. With its theme, Connections: Coming Together, the festival highlights how different genres of the literary arts, including fiction, poetry and memoir link to the human experience. Writing classes, FREE readings and performances, a community forum, and Young Writers Camp come together for an exciting literary summer for the community.

Award-winning writers of national and international renown will be among the featured faculty including Lucy Chambers, Stephanie Elizondo Griest, Tim Hernandez, Donna Ingham, Laurie Lambeth, Jan Seale, Arthur Sze, and Orlando White. Learn from these published pros and experience one-on-one feedback as they challenge and inspire. FREE readings hosted by faculty will kick off each weekend of The Festival on Fridays at 6:30pm.

The Young Writers Camp: A Thousand Invisible Threads fosters writing in children and young adults as they explore the possibilities and connections among the arts as one creative experience. The week-long camps end with a FREE public reading of participants’ work.

Community Talk is a FREE public forum that will explore the importance of neighborhood and how the connections we make strengthen our community. Featured panelists include Richard Reed of the River Road Neighborhood Association, Maria Watson of the King William  Neighborhood Association, Jerrilene Keys of the Denver Heights Neighborhood Association and WOAI Reporter Kristina De Leon.

Classes, camps, readings and the public forum will be held at Gemini Ink, 513 South Presa. For event schedule, details, and to register go online www.geminiink.org, or call 210.734.9634. Class space is limited.
